What is Ladon Language Project?

What does Ladon mean?
Ladon is a multi-headed dragon in Greek mythology; each head can speak a different voice. It is an emblem of our approach to bridging language barriers.
What services do you offer?
We offer language assistance over the phone, in-person and document translation.
What makes Ladon different?
Our language assistants know how it feels like to face language barriers so we will help you with all our hearts. We offer lowest rates, guaranteed.
Client Q&A
How do I get connected to a language assistant over-the-phone?
Just call our toll-free hotline number, (844)xxx-xxxx, then press 1 for Spanish, 2-Cantonese, 3-Mandarin, 4-Vietnamese and 5-Arabic. Your call will be routed an available language assistant. Alternatively, we also have dedicated language hotlines for each language. When you call these hotlines, you will be connected directly to a language assistant of that language. Please contact Ladon Team for more details.
What should I do when the language assistant joins the conversation on the phone?
Please introduce yourself to the language assistant and explain your reason for calling. The language assistant will then introduce himself/herself to the person who cannot speak English first, then to you. Take the lead by speaking directly to the person as if he or she were an English speaker. Pause and allow the language assistant to relay your message in the other language.
How does phone interpretation work?
Over the phone, the source-language speaker and the language assistant take turns speaking. The language assistant listens (and takes notes if need be) while the speaker talks. When the speaker pauses or finishes speaking, the language assistant reproduces the message in the target language.
What if I am unsure if the person is speaking Cantonese or Mandarin?
Please call either Ladon Cantonese or Mandarin hotline (ext 2 or 3) and ask the Language Assistant to help you identify the language. Then, please call the correct hotline.
We can provide Point-to-your-language posters and cards to help you identify the language your client speaks. Click here for a link to our Support Materials. Should you have any ideas on how we can help, please contact Ladon Team and we’ll work to make your ideas come true!
How do I register as a client?
Registration consists of 2 steps: (1) filling out your name, email and password, and (2) verify your phone number. You need a valid US phone number to register.
During registration, I can’t receive the phone verification code. What should I do?
Please wait for a few minutes for the verification code to reach your phone. If you do not receive the code within 5 minutes, check that the phone number you have entered is correct. If your phone is unable to receive text, you can try resending the code to your phone via phone call. You can also try resending and/ or checking the phone number you have entered. If neither works, please contact Ladon Team.
Can I register with the same email more than once?
Yes, you can use the same email to register for multiple numbers.
I'm a Client and I want to register as a Language Assistant, what should I do?

Can I change my phone number later?
Yes, please log in to your account, go to Settings page to change the number.
Do I have to be in the US to use Ladon?
As long as you have a valid US phone number and can receive calls from the US, you can access Ladon language hotline.
How long does it take to reach a language assistant?
This depends on the availability of the language assistants. The minimum waiting time is approximately 10 seconds after you have selected the language. On average, it takes 15-22 seconds to reach a language assistant.
How long should I hold my call?
After 40 seconds after you have selected the language, if you can’t get connected to a language assistant, please hang up and try again after a few minutes. There might occasionally be no language assistants available at the time. We apologize for the inconvenience. We monitor the situation closely to make sure that we can assist you whenever you call us.
Why do the limited-English conversations seem longer than the English-only conversations?
Our telephone language assistants are required to provide accurate and concise interpretations. It is important to remember that they interpret across both languages and cultures, which can make the limited-English conversations longer. You can help facilitate the interpretation by making your message easy for the non-English speaker to understand. You may need to clarify or elaborate on your message to explain concepts that do not have an equivalent in other languages or cultures.

How are Language Assistants selected to ensure quality?
Each will have to pass two interviews and a background check.
Do you monitor calls for quality?
All calls are recorded for quality assurance. We monitor the language assistant’s performance, rather than the conversation itself.
How do I give feedback to the language assistant?
